What is PrankDialer?

PrankDialer.com is a fun site which allows you to call just about any phone number with a variety pranks, songs, jokes, and anything else we find funny or useful.

It first started with the RickRoll, and has grown to what it is today, with multiple ‘Dialer’ sites, and many more to come!

I created this site as a student project to study new web technologies, viral entertainment and marketing, advertising, and of course hilarity.  Since its launch on April Fools Day 2008, this site has placed over one million calls, and continues to grow with your support!

Is it free?

It’s totally free to use!  It will not cost the person receiving the call either, unless for some reason it costs money for them to receive a call, which is almost always not the case.  Please check and make sure before using any site on the PrankDialer network, however.

Wait it says I can pay, I thought you said it was free?!

It is completely free to use!  Because each call costs me money, I have created a DialToken system to help alleviate cost.  This grants users more advanced features such as unlimited international calling to any land line or mobile, call scheduling, circumvention of the 15 minute wait in between each call placed, setting the caller ID to your own phone number, and many more things in the near future!

What do I put for the country / area codes?

If you are in the United States / Canada, your country code is 1. Just leave that alone and fill in the rest like you normally would.

International calling may be a little different, and some countries may not have an area code. That's okay! All you need to do is put the first 3 digits of the phone number into the area code, and the rest into the phone number.

For example, this is what you would put if you lived in Norway (country code 47) and your phone number was 12345678, respectively:

Make sure you do not put leading 0's in any field!
The call will not work if you do.

Wait, I can call any phone number in the world?!

Yes you can! Because it can obviously cost quite a bit to call some international locations, I have limited the free calls to certain locations.

But with DialTokens, that limit has been removed and you can call any phone number in the world!

What will they hear when I place a call?

Almost every Dialer has a preview button which allows you to listen to the prank before you send it out. Click that link to preview each message!

What if they don't pick up? Will it go to voicemail?

Once someone (or something) picks up the phone, the message starts to play. Some voicemail and answering machine systems can take quite some time before they actually start recording a message, and by that time your selected message may be done playing.

The best way to ensure your victim will get the call is to schedule it to call when you know they will pick up, or better yet get a subscription to set your phone number to show up on their caller ID, so they will think it is actually you calling!

What shows up on the caller ID?

For most users, they will see “Private” or “Unknown”.  International calls may see a fake number.

Can I set my own Caller ID?

Yes you can!  When you subscribe or purchase the Caller ID DialToken package, I will give you a special link which will allow you to send any call with your own phone number on the Caller ID.  Unfortunately because of Bills S.704 and HR251 on Caller ID spoofing, which have recently been passed by the Senate, I cannot allow you to put whatever number you want.  When you subscribe / purchase the package, and request to use your own phone number, I will personally verify the number is actually yours before enabling this feature for you. This acts as a legal contract between you and PrankDialer, ensuring all spoofed Caller ID messages are in fact coming from you.

Stop calling me!

I'm sorry if you have received an unwanted call from the site. This site is not an automatic dialer, thus cannot be blamed for unsolicited calls. Every call placed was originated by someone who knows your phone number. To help alleviate abuse, I have implemented a "DO NOT CALL" list that will prevent your number from being dialed by any site on the Dialer network, permanently.
